The Christian Arts Trust was delighted to support Blude Red, a powerful and moving musical from Cutting Edge Theatre. Set during Scotland’s 17th-century “Killing Times,” the production told the story of ordinary men and women—Covenanters such as Margaret Wilson, John and Isobel Brown—whose faith and conviction led them to face persecution, division, and even death.
Seen through the eyes of James Renwick, the play explored timeless questions of belief, conscience, and the cost of discipleship.

Through stirring music and evocative storytelling, Blude Red invited audiences to reflect on courage, sacrifice, and the enduring strength of faith under pressure. The production also captured the spirit of community, love, and moral choice in a turbulent era, bringing history to life with passion and authenticity.
Cutting Edge Theatre’s work extends far beyond the stage.
Their INSPIRE programme champions inclusion in the arts—creating opportunities for disabled and marginalised artists, delivering free accessible workshops, and developing creative projects in prisons and communities.

This commitment to equality, participation, and human dignity reflected the Christian Arts Trust’s mission to support artistic excellence rooted in faith, compassion, and transformation.
We were proud to have supported a work that not only honoured the faith of the past but inspired hope, empathy, and inclusion for the future.
